Blown Glass by Larissa Blokhuis

The Art of December - 12/14/13: Blown Glass by Larissa Blokhuis

by Andrea Mulder-Slater

To celebrate the holidays, we've decided to post a photo of a work of art (available for sale in our studio/gallery) each day between December 1st and 24th.

These blown glass trees appear as though if you touched them, they would melt away.

They are absolutely gorgeous.

About the artist:
Larissa was born in the mid 80s on the edge of the prairies in Canada.  She was six when she knew she was an artist.  At age fourteen, she took the first glassblowing course available to people under 18.  In 2008 she completed her BFA in glass at the Alberta College of Art and Design.  In 2009, Larissa moved to the coast to take a job as a glassblower on Granville Island.  She now divides her time between Vancouver BC, and Calgary AB.
